I have recently acquired a Fender Stratocaster. Based on the serial number, the only information I was able to find was that it was made in Japan from 85-86. This was my uncle's guitar, who has since passed. I intend to keep the guitar in the family, but still I am interested in the guitar's history, quality and value. The serial number is c001882. Any information will be much appreciated. Thank you

Hi Worboys,

You should post pics, the serial number doesn't tell us much about the guitar at all.

Tell me about it. Some of the components resemble an '86 Contemporary Fender Stratocaster, but I can't find any information on a "C Series" Strat. I know very little about guitars, so any info will be helpful. I'm gonna borrow my girlfiend's quality camera, and post some better pics later.

those pickups look like Carvin pickups. But you certainly do have a fine axe on your hands. I like that tremolo on there. The mid eighties were some good years for Fender Japan.

Thanks.. I'm pretty uneducated when it comes to guitars. I did notice a couple things when i was comparing it to the Contemporary Series of that year. It looks like the tremolo is missing the six little adjustment knobs (one for each string), and the top of the neck looks like it's missing a lock or some kind of mechanism. I of course could be completely wrong. Quite the mysterious model. Maybe it's a fake?

" Your guitar was made at the
Fuji-gen Plant (for Fender Japan), Japan
in the Year(s): 1985 - 1986 "

That´s what the Fender serial dater thing puts out by entering the number.

Cheers,
Robin

Here are some better pictures. I just got the guitar given to me, so it hasn't had a good cleaning yet.
