The serial number seems to track to the latter half of 1972 and the natural clearcoat finish does not appear to be factory-applied. Otherwise, the details and appointments are likely original and correct for the era.

+1 Retroverbial

From the book " The Fender Stratocaster, a complete guide to... by A R Duchossoir , 6 digits beginning by 3 , production years is 1970 to 1973.

For more precision you have to remove the pickgard an see date code on pots, or remove the neck from the body, there a date there.

For the color, I don't know what to think since my brother had an original strat made in '50 area and the natural color ,like your's, does not appear to be factory.
Unfortunately this guitar was stolen by his best friend in '70/ 80

It is a nice guitar, john

That is a cool looking Strat, I'd be proud to have it.

My '73 has 22 frets, odd to see only 21 on that and the pickguard
seems rather tight at the left side of the bridge...

Yeah, I would have to see the underside of the pick guard for date codes on pots as mentioned, and the body routing, neck pocket and neck heel. The headstock and decal doesn't look right to me either, and what's with the skunk stripe and the rosewood fret board? The body doesn't look like a Fender body either (look at the rib relief for one thing, way to deep for 70s), it doesn't even look like alder, and it's certainly not ash. I have doubts about this guitar being authentic.

I must say this is my interpretation of the disappearance of the guitar when she was in the possession of this friend.

The house was where the guitar would have been flooded and damaged so that the house would have been demolished without the guitar have been found.

I do not believe it.
