To all,

My daughter stripped the threads in the trem block when trying to put in the whammy bar. It is pretty bad as it looks like she has probably done it more than once. Rather than try and repair it I am just going to replace the block. Is there a replacement that will fit the Squier CV50 Strat that has a push in option rather than threads so this won't happen again?

I am poking around myself but I was hoping to pick the brains here as well.

So far the only block I have seen with a push in option is from Callaham. Kind of pricey considering I will also have to get a new trem arm. Also not positive of the fitment as their chart does not mention the Squier CV series at all.

Callaham Vintage Guitars and Parts (Tremolo Blocks)

Thanks

I looked at the GFS blocks but the problem I have is it uses full threads for the trem arm and I am afraid she will cross thread it again.

The Callaham has a delrin sleeve that guides the arm in straight and only has a few threads to hold the arm in seemingly making it much less likely she will cross thread it...

The Callaham is kind of expensive though but from what I can see so far there really don't appear to be a lot of options for a push in trem arm...

I believe Squier CVs are 2 1/16" string spacing at the trem. Measure between the E and E intonation screws to be sure. In any case, use whichever block matches the guitar's string spacing. A Callaham might be kind of an expensive block for a Squier, in which case, use the GFS block and teach your daughter how to thread the trem properly. Supervise her the first few times until you are confident in her ability to do it properly.

Either that or just have her leave it in there! :D

Or, just deck the bridge and be a whammy nazi; "No whammy for you!"

The cheapest option anyway, if not the best.

yeah the CV 50's and 60's use the current MIM standard trem blocks. When I replacd the one in my CV 60's I ordered the Asian import and had to exchange it for the MIM block.
