i have a 2002 highway one body that i am building from and was just curious as to what i can use for a neck. i am assuming any fender neck will fit that is a 4 bolt without micro tilt. any other things i need to take into consideration while shopping for necks?

if you aren't gonna be getting a Fender neck, or a Fender licensed neck, check the pocket depth on the neck, cause it might not fit. but otherwise, all fender necks should fit. given, like you said, that they have 4 bolts, and no micro tilt.

I should think that most USA strat necks should fit it, but as the right honorable poster above says, you'd better check the measurements. Good luck mate.

Be prepared to do a little bit of sanding, filing or shimming. It's just the nature of the beast. Live and learn, the only way to go. Temperature and Humidity have an affect on wood. Good luck.

Just like with hardwood floors, after you purchase the neck, I would leave the neck and the guitar in the room in which you're going to do the work for like 24 or 48 hours (at least) to make sure that the wood is going to adjust to the new temp/humidity.

Hello Djbird 87,

Youl'll have to pass on any late model American Deluxe
necks as 1 of the screws is offset. Of course you may be
able to drill a new pilot hole yourself in the correct location.
Earlier Am/Deluxe neck should work fine.

PS American Deluxe necks are really nice.

Cheers.

I agree w/ Mr Bill. The Am Dlx neck is awesome! Another source you might check is Warmoth.com. They note all of the sizes and specs for their items. It won't have the Fender decal but you'll be much happier in the long run with their high quality products rather than a little feature like a decal. I don't trust eBay. I've been burned too many times on shipping and restocking fees for returned items that it's just not worth it. Besides, if you are going to be making a custom guitar you'll never get decent price for it if you try to sell it so don't try to build a "collector's" guitar. Just make an awsome player's guitar.
