Well it arrived yesterday And after a "GOOD GOING OVER" I deemed it worthy. I have to say this is one beautiful guitar, the neck tint and finish is superb, the body finish is flawless, the vintage tuners are tight, it is amazing. Well, I plugged it in and guess what……….the 3 position selector switch is great, bridge-middle-neck only (included is the 5 position selector switch, so I could change it if I want to), I ran it through my 65 twin reverb and blues junior and it sounds amazing (match made in heaven-thanks Leo). The 57/62 vintage pickups sound wonderful. I think this is quite possibly the best playing guitar and sounding guitar I have ever played. The neck shape is perfect, really comfortable, no problem with it at all. I thought I might not like the 7.25, but it is really really nice. The setup and action from the factory is perfect as well. Overall, I am really pleased. 8) I had initially thought I was going to buy the 57 hotrod, but I just wasn't crazy about the DiMarzio bridge p/u, I really wanted the vintage tone and vibe. I'm glad I ordered the american vintage 57, as close to the original as possible. I think the american 70's strat is on the horizon. 8)

Beutifull collection you have going there. I'm waiting for my tweed Blues Jr to arrive myself (bought Febuary 11.)

Out of curiosity, what do you think of the Koil cords? I'm thinking of buying these just for the cool/retro factor, but was wondering about the sound quality? Worth it?

Albert Collins (?), one of Jimi Hendrixs' idols, used a 60' coil cord so he could go out and wonder around in the croud!

I've heard it said that he used this cord in the studio as it affected his sound!

I really like the coil cable, my only concern is when walking around with it plugged in, I'm afraid it's going to rip right out of the guitar jack and it weighs a ton. Great quality!!!

THE FIVE POSITION SWITCH EVOLVED AS A RESULT OF EARLY FINDING AND USE OF THE 'IN-BETWEEN' VOICE OF THE THREE WAY SWITCH AS FAR BACK AS THE LATE FIFTIES EARLY SIXTIES. YOU TOO CAN DO THIS THUS NOT CHANGING THE 'VINTAGE' OF YOUR GUITAR BY SWAPPING IN THE FIVE-WAY. IT'S YOUR CHOICE.

Apparently, Leo Fender disapproved of the five-way switch and felt that the position 2 and 4 sounds were too strident and rather irritating.

So the moral to the story is.... if you want to keep Leo happy, don't change out that 3-way tone switch!

..........BUT, AT THE SAME TIME, IF YOU'RE LOOKING FOR THAT 'KNOPFLER SOUND'.....DO DIDDLE WITH THAT SWITCH AND PRACTICE GETTING TO THAT SWEET SPOT. WE DID IT FOR YEARS.

BY THE WAY.....WASN'T LEO STILL WITH THE COMPANY WHEN THE FIVE-WAY WAS INTRODUCED???

Yea, I remember the guitarist in my first band in the late '60s used to jam a paper matchbook cover to get the switch to hold between 3 and 5 on his tele. We were doing a lot of Cream stuff and it seems somewhat convincing. LOL
