It looks like the AVRI 57 may now be available in Candy Apple Red. Sweetwater lists it as new and limited. One other site called it a Fender Special Run.

It's definitely NOT the HR57, looks to have regular vintage specs. Does anyone know if this is truly a limited run or if it will be available for 2012? Are Special Runs better/same as regular production guitars?

I've always wanted an AVRI 57 in Candy Apple Red!

Nice and like the extra real estate on the neck profiles!

Hi maller: that's got everything going for it. Nice guitar!

Special Run normally just means that a retailer ordered a batch of guitars with something unusual about the spec sheet, in this case the Candy Apple Red finish.

Then now's your chance; grab it while you can. :D

Only Strat I might consider as an alternative to this one would be the Eric Johnson in CAR. That's a very nice guitar indeed. Either way, you can't go wrong.

Cheers - C

I've also seen these at some of the larger mom & pop stores (Wildwood, Dave's, Willcutt's) as well so I guess this is a larger FSR run like those surf green, fiesta red, and sonic blue American Standards with matching headstocks from 2009.

These would be the same as any other AV '57, just with the candy apple red finish.

Nice looking guitar! Like what was said, dealers will order a small batch of guitars with something special or different like finish, pickups or neck shape. Dave's did a small run of guitars similar to that, only a '61 with all nitro finish, CS pickups and two color options. Then Wildwood also has their famous AVR 'Thin-Skin' line of guitars, with CS pickups and a ton of finish options. Dave's did that as well.

If you stick a set of EMGs and buy a shortened whammy bar, you can nail the Pink Floyd tones from the Delicate Sound Of Thunder/P.U.L.S.E. tours without problem!

Thanks Rob! How limited of a run is this? I see them a lot of them popping up, so I'm hoping they won't sell out.

It would be great to be able to access a central resource of the dealers around the country who have these. Beats a full bore search expedition. :?

CAR is on the Fender website as an option for the AVRI 57. Good news! I guess it's not a limited edition.
