I've got a 2010 MiM Lake Placid Blue Strat. Put a white "cracked ice" pickguard on it and it looks nice. Only thing is I can't decide if if wouldn't look better with some aged accessories to make the pickguard stand out more. So I found a photo of a Strat with the same color and pickguard and through the magic of Photoshop mocked up what it might look like.

And I still can't decide.

What do y'all think?

For that color pickguard, I'd use Fender's "parchment" accessory set (P/N 0991395000).

The "aged white" parts are too dramatic of a contrast to the MOP.

Parchment should look good....a shade or two lighter than aged.

Hi Highline: normally I'd be right there with the suggestions for parchment covers and knobs. I think it's arguably the nicest shade for plastic parts.

Strangely though, I seem to like the look of your first photo, with the bright white matching the pickguard. I'm finding that very cool with the LP Blue. Nice look.

On the other hand, you gotta admit, this is one gorgeous looking Strat. The way the covers kinda talk to the fingerboard binding is fairly droolsome, ain't it? Hot damn, I'm feeling all GAS-y...

Hey C,

I'm right there with you. It's a tough choice. But then again it's only about $20 to try it out. My thing with the all white with the "cracked ice" is it seems to be missing something. I might just go with the parchment and see how it looks. Once I get back from my Christmas vacation, that is. If I do, I'll post a pic...

Hi again Highline: ultimately, there's no wrong answers! :D

Try it and see, is an excellent policy. And that way you end up with a spare set of plastic parts... around which you can then begin to build your next Strat. 8)

BTW: I've never heard perloid called "cracked ice" before, but it exactly describes the look of your pickguard. Nice! I shall be using that name in future.

Good luck - and remember to return to this thread with photos when you have the new plastics on there, please.

Cheers - C
