2006 was fenders 60th year. USA strats and teles came with special 60 anniv. appointments. the cases were also well appointed. mexico models came with a 60th anniv. button on the backside of the headstock.
Sam Ash music stores advertised a limited production of 150 60th anniv. strats in a special color made excusively for them.

pretty much what is stated here.... the majority of the 60th anniv. strats have little actual difference from the regular ones... its mainly a decal or something on the back of the headstock, but the actual 60th aniv. strat was a nice guitar from a few minutes of trying one out a while back

as stated, all models that year had the button on the back of the headstock. these guitars are no different except for the button. but, they also made a cpl anneversary models that year. a MIM in blizzard pearl, and a MIA in sunburst. these guitars did get upgrades and can easily be idenified by the diamond engraving on the neck plate. of course the MIM anniversary's are easy to spot because of the color.

Seems to me that they were maple necks and had special pickups or wiring or both IIRC.
