Loaded Question!

You have to ask yourself some questions first...
What kind of music do you like to play?
What kind of amp are you upgrading from?
Do you want an amp to jam at home with, or to use in a band/performing situation?
How much do you want to spend?

A strat sounds good through just about any amp, but since you have a big apple, I assume you want something that can really let those humbuckers shine. Although I don't this particular amp, I'd recommend the Fender Supersonic 22. A Very versatile amp...does hard/classic rock really well, as well as clean/bluesy stuff. I have an amp for heavy stuff, and several amps for bluesy type stuff, so getting a Supersonic would mean too many amps for me...but I want one!

I have a 2002 Double Fat Strat (same as your big apple, with a few minor design changes when they changed over to the american series in 2000). I use it for classic rock type stuff, and even more of the harder, EVH type stuff. I also have a few strats with single coils, for which I use my Hot Rod Deluxe, Blues Jr, and occasionally, my Mustang I.

Answer the questions I asked in the beginning, and that will definetly help us recommend the right amp!

I'll argue there is no "Strat sound." There is only the sound of the player using the guitar and amplifier.

Plug a strat into any amp you like, and judge the results for yourself. That's what we all end up doing after we're done running in "tone" circles due to the immense levels of hype that surround us.

Price range and what kind of sound are you after? Rock, Blues.... Metal...
For gigging/band play or just for playing at home?

I personally like the sound of a strat into a Marshall. It also kills on my Orange.

All of them :)

As said depends on the music and sound your going for.

I'm not a huge fan of fender amps, but then I've got a plexi in the shed.

Jazz ? Roland 120
Hard rock, classic metal ? Marshall, boogie ?
classic rock, blues and country ? fender ?

Nearly anything really :) Mine even sounds good through a cheapie ss student amp I bought at a garage sale for $15.

Strat into Marshall has always worked well for me. And for many others.

Cheers - C

A more poignant question might be "what amps don't".

:)

Miami Mike I like your way of thinking...Fender Strat and a Super Reverb quite a wonderful combination!

A better question would be what amp doesn't sound good with a Strat?

I have yet to experience a quality tube amp that i could not get good tone from with one of my Strats..

I guess though if i was to boil it down to which amps i like the best with a Strat this would be my answer..

For Cleans....Fender Twin Reverb

For Crunch or light gain....Tweed Bassman

For getting nasty....Marshall Plexi

So since i can't drag around three different amp's i use a Randall MTS module amp so i can have that class a tube tone with all three of these amps combined into one..

But truly any tube amp does well with a Strat ..Even high gain amps such as a Mesa or Soldano sound great with a Strat...

It's a Strat into Fender tube amps for me. I came really close to pulling the trigger on a Super Reverb Reissue a couple of months ago but I couldn't be happier with my Deluxe Reverb Reissue.
