Is it possible to have the bridge and neck combined working of the existing 5 way....i think the classic player 50's model has this modification at the expense of the neck/middle combination in position 4. If thats true does anyone know how its done...or maybe losing the middle pick up in pos 3 as an alternative?

I've done it on a Lonestar (HSS) Strat that had the 5-way super switch. This also facilitated coil splitting. Since I rarely use the middle pick up alone, I used the neck/bridge combo in its place.

On the regular 5 way switch just follow the neck and middle pup wires down to the switch. Then switch them.

That will give you

1. Bridge
2. Bridge/Neck
3. Neck
4. Neck/Middle
5. Middle
