Sometime you can use your guitar player as your Bass's low E string ...

Bit of an update for those wanting to try Watco lacquer.

It is made by Rust-o-leum, which I didn't know until I google checked.
It is a Nitro lacquer which for guitars is what we want. I came across quite a few reviews in the Telecaster Guitar Forum ( not on this Fender site. )
All positive especially of the rapid curing time.. The downside is that you must wear a mask and handle the spraying process with care... It is volatile and I would stress that ventilation is critical.

As of this morning 48 hours later, the guitar is almost odorless. Odors emanating from the curing process as the lacquer hardens. I cannot indent it with my fingernail as I could yesterday. :D :D 8)

Now I had thought at this point I would lightly sand and apply 3 to 5 more light coats, but I'm satisfied with the current result and I'm afraid that too thick of a finish will muzzle the body from resonating fully.
May just be able to reassemble this today or tomorrow...

Just coffee is in a cup.... This is after all a framily friendly site.
As far as the workbench I just organized it for what I needed. It'll be messy in no time. But I'm well set up.
To my left on the flat screen I'm streaming a continuous slideshow and tunes thru my Apple TV from my Mac-Book Pro. Let the games begin !!

So 1st is to get all the pups settled and start routing all the wiring. One thing I had not done was to drill a hole from under the bridge plate to the control cavity for grounding the bridge.
I also have about 36 " x 12" of adhesive backed copper shielding. so that needs to be cut and glued in..

I don't remember how the Texas Specials RW/RP noise level is audible as most single coils or if they are quieter than the rest...

Don't get the meme, but please don't post anymore meme in this thread as I want to keep it as concise as can be for a build thread... I'll battle meme's in the Lounge section but not here..
Thanks..

Onward towards the light at the end of the build tunnel. Most of what I'm doing on this guitar is pretty much rewriting the book.
I spent way too much time searching on the net for direct mount pups methods and none of it was where I'm at.
So I needed to cut down the aluminum posts and the screws as the pickup only adjust 3/8th of an inch up or down.... Pics coming.

Looks a lot better than some autopsy tables I've stood alongside in my time.

Working on more pics today and final setup. The pickup adjustments are a pain to get right but almost there. Thanks

Pickup height adjustment screws / springs and post completed.

I needed to cut down the posts as well as the screws since the pickup only moves up or down just a few millimeters, 10 to 15 at the most. Then I had to rethread the posts at the cut. Easy with a tap and dye set.
Same with the screws, deburred by filing the ends and rethreaded .

Next was to cut the copper shielding for all the cavities...
