Do you have any pictures Jake ?
It's unfortunate that you're doing this research after you bought it mate.

edited: I think I found the auction:

IIRC the early Hwy1 were available in that color: "teal transparent" or something like that. It looks like a real Hwy1 to me.

Yeah, It is a real one. I almost bought one exactly the same from a Fender dealer awhile back.
Congrats, it is a sweet axe I wish I grabbed the one I tried.

Yes - almost certainly the real McCoy..

The original Highway 1 did have a small headstock, the bigger head came after the range was upgraded. I'm betting your guitar has a narrow sustain block too - that was also later upgraded. A thin satin finish I assume?

If so, I'm sure all is well.

I believe that's a real pre-2006 Highway One strat. They have an acrylic lacquer super thin finish (after 2006 they changed to nitro lacquer).

It looks like what you have there is the transparent blue one with a yellowed top coat making it green, check under the pickguard.

Very cool 8)

That color is very desirable ,
You could do what you want with it, however it's like putting
twisted sister paintjob on your girlfriend.
maybe some cream pickup covers and knobs would do the
Trick.
yeah the other would make it look like a cheap guitar

Post some pics please

Wow, with that new pick guard, if it ever gets stolen you can narrow the suspects down to the colour-blind!

Ummmm, it's not like swapping the guard, covers, and knobs permanently disfigures the guitar. Keep the originals so you can put them back on if it ever becomes a sought-after collectable. (Or if you get tired of old guys laughing at your color choices.)

From most of these replies, it's apparent that most Fender fans aren't even aware that teal green transparent was ever an option. Collectors aren't exactly beating down the doors trying to acquire old teal Hwy1's.

Lol.. Well there's green, and then there's green..

I'd be interested to run a geiger counter over those 'glow in the dark' plastic parts. You're going to have men in white suits and space helmets assembling on your front lawn, while your neighbours are being evacuated..

J/K. Your guitar, pimp it like you see it and have fun. :?

The pickguard looks OK to me. It's just that I don't think it will suit a Teal guitar. Greens don't necessarily all match. Some nice metal bell knobs with green abalone inserts would be more to my taste.
Anyway it's your guitar, good luck to ya :)
I have many guitars. I play one whilst looking at the others. Of course they're to be looked at.
Goodonya .....Mark.
