Hey, I am new to this forum, so first of all, Whats good everyone? I have a question for ya'll who own a strat with the S1 system... What is your opinion of it? From what I understand, it is only currently offered in the American Deluxe fender instruments.

I have played it a few times and love the guitar, but have some quarells about the S1

Can anyone enlighten me?

Don't fear change or progress! S1 switching makes a great guitar (AM DLX) even better. You can go from Hendrix to Petrucci with one guitar (S1 equipped) and one amp (boogie). Fantastic range of killer tones.

+1 for the S1, I have 3 axes with it and haven't found a problem yet. Gives me plenty of other tonal options.

I also have the option of not using it, diversity is good. That said it wouldn't hurt me to venture out to other PUP styles.

I personally have not tried one but have heard of problems with the switch.

I don't mind change and getting a few more options out of pickups is mostly a good thing.

I'm not a fan at all - in fact I'll be replacing the pickups & controls in my 50th Anniversary Deluxe to get away from it. I also really like the tone of the American Vintage or Texas Specials much better than the SCNs (though they really are quiet!). Aside from the SC1, the guitar is sweet and plays well (which is why I have to keep it).

I like the S1 system, myself. It makes my Strat my most versatile guitar.

I like the system, but rarely use it. But knowing that it's there when, and if, I need it is always good. I just need to find a replacement knob for it (can't seem to find them anywhere on the net or in stores)... my volume knob on my deluxe strat is already loose! DOH! :)

I wanna try it so bad!!! But I'm left handed and every guitar store I've been to only have cheap mexican strats... So unfair...
