Anyone have one? Played one? Pros cons etc?

Seriously considering getting my hands on one, but I wanna know if it's worth the 650euro pricetag. And there's only one video that I can find on youtube.....although it is awesome :D

They're wonderful guitars, and this one with the Floyd must be a very nice rock axe 8) Mine is flawless, very well built and the vintage tint neck + 22 frets it's a joy. The pups were very nice even if they're not my cup of tea. But they sounded really good :)

I think the pups on the FR version are different, but I could be wrong. How did you find the 5 way selector? Did it deliver single coil tones with a little more funk or did it still sound like a HB in every position? Not that I mind, I have my CS Gilmour and my MIJ 62RI for the single coil side of things. :D Just curious.

I used to own a Blacktop when they first came out. Positions 2 and 4 are Strat-like. I think position 1, 3, and 5 sounds muddy. I used it on a trade for a different Strat.

The playability of the Blacktop is great. I love the neck on the Blacktops. I would suggest that if you buy one, ensure that it gets a professional set-up.

I have a Floyd Rose Blacktop on layaway. Once out, I am changing it from a HH to an HSH. All Seymour Duncan pickups with Coil Tap switch for the buckers: JB Neck, RW SC Alnico II in the middle, and Pearly Gates in the Bridge; however, I may change the JB to Bridge and Pearly Gates to the neck. The more I read, the more it sounds like that is the best positions for those pickups.

Most likely I just got unlucky but I bought one online and it arrived with no wrenches and a tremolo bar from a standard strat. So I couldn't tune it up or use the tremolo. It also had a tremendously bad setup. The tremolo felt like a piece of cheap metal. Very disappointing. The place I bought it from couldn't send me the proper tremolo bar or wrenches so I just sent it back. I eventually got a regular Blacktop Strat which I'm pretty satisfied with.

You could get a Charvel ProMod(MiJ) for the exact same price, just a thought.
Not saying the Blacktops aren´t great guitars.
Better hardware is on the Charvels and they are absolutely awesome taken the price and parts (Duncan or DiMarzio, quarter sawn neck, Floyd Rose Original(MiK)(no licensed), rolled fretboard edges, 12-16 compound radius fretboard)

In my own experience, humbuckers on a strat ran in humbucker mode always sound a little muddy. I've owned some HSS and HH models over the years and tried swapping in and out all kinds of pickups. The best I found, and what's funny is I play overdriven blues and not much metal, was the SD Dimebucker. It's sold as a shredder's pickup for metal but it's amazing hot and shimmeringly clean. I swapped out the atomic humbucker in an American Special HSS with a dimebucker and it sounds really good. Not a Strat single coil sound but still a great sound.
