You must know the story of how the guitar came to be then. I won't bother with the details. There's no argument that the finish is quite unique. The unfortunate part of the issue is that company policy restricts the specifications of any artist/signature series guitar to those agreed upon by the artist in their endorsement contracts. Thus Clapton had to authorize the creation of the black finish years back, and then the grigiosilverstone aka EC Gray{also an automobile paint] as well as the Daphne. To the best of my knowledge and belief, Fender could finish any guitar from that series in any fashion the purchaser chose, as long as the artist's signature was not on it.

Welcome aboard. I expect your background and contributions will of much interest.

Doc

Thanks all for the "welcome aboards"! I hope you will find that I am just an old man (47) that wishes to 'post' and get information, and not just trying to find an outlet to be a 'liberal $@!'.
I tried to post a photo of my Blasberry Fiero / Strat 'set', but couldn't figure it out. The reason I stumbled on this subject is due to I was online searching for a warehouse that still has some 'old stock' Blasberry still sold in pints. "Workhorse", my Strat is safely on the wall in my living room. But unfortunately when I took my wife out to eat a couple weeks ago, we walked out to the parking lot to find the Fiero had been "keyed". If someone has to 'key' a vehicle (because it's nicer than theirs) why can't they scrape in a straight line? So (thank god I had it insured) I have to refinish the car, and it's only one month until the start of car show season. Anyway, for those interested in refinishing their instrument I have found that DuPont now only sells ChromaLusion in quarts at a shop cost of $1,100.00. I only paid $285.00 per pint 15 years ago. But if you search DuPont dealers I have found that some of the larger stores will "pour off" per ounce what you need. ChromaLusion is worth the price because it shifts 7 colors, and the other brands only shift from 3 to 5 (SEM brand bites! Don't try it). Figure by the time you put down Sealer (black), Base (black), Mid (ChromaLusion), and Clear Coats, a standard guitar will cost approx. $425.00 in materials plus 7 to 10hrs labor time (I charge $55 per hour). WELL worth it if you are passionate about "color". My wife is sick of "Blasberry" so my only problem is going to be when she comes home from work to find her stove and refrigerator matches the Strat! : )

No...your problem will begin when you come home to find that your dinner matches the kitchen appliances.
