Here are a couple of my worst dinged up guitars:

The two back-to-back strats are a walnut 1974 and a black 1971 lefthanded.

I think I'd cry, if I had a guitar like the brown one, and it got chipped. I love that color, and from the pic, it looks like it might have good grain too.

I remember when when that ding happened (fell out of my hands and hit a basement floor). I didn't cry, but I wasn't too happy. Here's what it looks like from the front. It's alder, pretty mild grain actually, shows the seams and the dowels quite clearly. The walnut color has faded some over the years. It was darker brown when it was younger.

I like the color, but then I've always been partial to natural wood type finishes. I have a tele that has nice grain, and just has a clear coat on it.
