Has anyone installed an EMG-DG20 David Gilmour Pre-Wired Pickguard on a MIM Strat? I want to know if the pickguard holes match up with a made in Mexico model (chrome red, of course). Would there be any major modifications needed with this project. This combo would cost less than a Highway one model and would be more up my alley tone wise. Thanks for any insight! Image

Both are 11-hole so should not be a problem at all.

With a recent install of a Kirk Hammet pre-wired setup on an american standard HSS strat, a little additional routing was required so that the EMGs would fit into the body cavity. Compare the size of the EMGs to the stock pups to see if they'll fit. If you're a do it yourselfer, this might not pose a problem, but if you're paying to have it installed this additional work could add to the cost of the upgrade. I have a MIM strat that I installed a Seymour Duncan Hot Rails in and the pickup fit in the body well, but I had to "make a little room" in the aftermarket pickguard that I had, as the pickup was a little "fatter" than the stock one. Nothing a steady hand and a fingernail file couldn't fix.

Thanks! Looks like I might have to fire up the old router…I would do the work myself…I just want to make sure I have all the necessary tools and the right bit for my router at my disposal.
