The Deluxe Locking Tremolo was the finest tremolo Fender ever offered on thier American Deluxe Stratocasters.
If you dont want to put them on strats make them available as an upgrade. Those of us that have them can get new ones and parts, those that want them can get them without going to ebay.

Hi donny: interesting point. It would be fascinating to know how the discussion went inside the company when they dropped it.

Can it not still be bought as an aftermarket unit? To be sure, a quick glance online is not finding it on sale in the usual places, but maybe someone knows of a source for it?

Cheers - C

Here is the only trustworthy place I've ever seen them sold....

>>> Darren Riley's - Fender DLX Locking Trem <<<

...Unfortunately, it's currently out of stock. Might be worth giving them a quick call to see if this item is something they can still get hold of.

Hope this helps.

Andy

I had a strat plus with that bridge at one point. I ended up losing one of the locking inserts changing a string at a show  after that I traded it off. the guitar stayed in tune flawlessly though. if the inserts had some sort of retainer when loose I would have probably stuck with it. it was also a hassle adjusting the intonation and action  those may be factors in the elimination of it.

Did Fender make that bridge themselves or was another company contracted to build them? Now that I think about it, it seems to me that FMIC very likely does not work with any steel at all and they just buy those parts or have them made for them. That sounds about right, doesn't it? If so, would it not be somehow possible to discover who made those bridges and contact them directly? Or maybe that's just a pipe dream....

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

I imagine so but customer service does not have any info i drove them nuts about 3 times. They still have all the parts for the bridge listed on thier site but none are available.
I have searched and called sites none have any. I did luck out and find a new one on ebay. I kept my old one for parts.
It also gives me one to take apart and measure as I am a machinist. I have already started making spare lock screws and inserts. The only thing readily available is the bar.

Somewhere in my research on the Strat Plus and Ultra guitars, I saw listed that these were called Fender Floyd Rose II bridges. Since finding that, that is what I have always called them. So I am thinking they were made by Floyd Rose and marketed with a Fender logo on them, much like the Fender Schaller tuners, or the Fender Lace Sensors. Once these are set up they are great bridges. Seems like so many of them I have come across needed no adjustment once I put it on the guitar. In one case the strings were a little low and I simply turned the bridge poles up a hair and that took care of it.

I called the deluxe locking bridge "Mini-Floyd" due to its similarity to normal 2-point tremolo.

The deluxe locking bridge assembly was a Fender product developed by the R&D team in conjunction with Floyd Rose. Therefore it's not a FR product though it beared his name for about 7 years.

I think this really is the best bridge for a hot rod strat. The floyd rose robs the strat of its tone and rapid multiple tuning features.
Some have tried to convince me that the blade runner would accomplish what the deluxe locking fender would. I dont see how without locking the strings.
The super-vee would work with an lsr but it looks so non traditional.
I would think that fender would rather have our money to keep our hot rod strats all mr gear head. ;)

Schaller made them.
Still available, you can use the Schaller Vintage Tremolo or the Schaller Tremolo 2000 (with knife edges).
