Just a quick, probably stupid, question...

I wanna change my pickguard to a 3 ply, black-white-black guard. Will a standard '62 reissue guard fit or do I have to buy a MIJ '62 reissue guard?

I see both for sale and was wondering if there's a difference as the MIJs are more expensive. But the MIAs say they fit MIA and MIM but don't mention MIJ?! I don't see any difference between them as far as screw holes go etc but I am basing that on dodgy ebay pics...

Thanks

Mike

I've had good luck installing both MIM and MIA '62-style pickguards on MIJ/CIJ bodies. The screw holes and pickup routs all seemed to line up correctly -- not so well when trying to fit a US-made pickguard on a MIJ Jazz Bass body. The Strats all seem to be relatively standardized regardless of country-of-origin (at least as far as the vintage re-issues go).

Thanks Arjay, that was fast!! :D

That was the answer I was hoping for, but what with all of Fender's little idiosyncrasies I didn't wanna take any chances!!

As I mentioned, the Strats from differing countries seem to jive with one another as far as swapping parts. The basses are a crapshoot though.

If you think of it, post some pics after you swap your pickguard out -- you know all of us gear junkies love "guitar porn".

Rawk on!
