I have one on my Blacktop Strat that was like that when I bought it. I have no complaints but really can't offer a comparison between it and any other unit.

Hell Yeah Bro! This thing is awesome. If you are a very simple tinkerer, it is a breeze to put in. If not, the directions make it a breeze to put in. If you every feel overwhelmed during the process, just give them a call. Or you can avoid all of that and just have qualified guitar tech install it for you. It can be done in under and hour.
Now as far as how it works? Well, let me say this first. I've owned a Strat for over 29 years, but never bothered much to use the whammy. Every time it would fly out of tune. I just couldn't understand how Jimi, and Stevie Ray where able to do what they did and stay in tune (But then again, another fact which sets them apart from most good players)I left it alone. I grew up in the 80's, and it was whammy bar war back then. A Floyed Rose? Out of the question. Way to much crap and I was not going to put my guitar through all of that drilling. With the Super-Vee there is none. And now I'm F#$@king whammy wizard Bro! Yo, I'm pulling Eddie V dive bombs and coming back straight in tune, I'm Hendrix Voodoo Child'in all up in this b!+@h and my Strat is like, "Well, I-stand-up-next-to-a-mountain (Whaaang)!"
Easy to install, requires no drilling, adds sonically to your guitars sustain, and it comes in a nice tin. Get it! Because in life the only true definent thing you have to look forward to is death. Spend some of that life being happy holding your whammy...    . Paece Bro...

That's not the Blade Runner. I guess what you have they simply call the Super-Vee. Same company, I'm sure it's good but the OP was asking about the Blade Runner.

Steve, that may be the case but NY sure does give a ringing endorsement of the other one!

Thats my whole issue with the super-vee. It does not look traditional on a strat. I love the deluxe lsr hss strats and used to love the deluxe locking tremolo. Thats why im so pissed at fender for stopping production of that model tremolo and not even stocking parts.
I asked the guy at super vee why he didnt make a tremolo like the blade runner that locked for us deluxe lsr users he acted like he didnt know what i was talking about.

The Super Vee does change the look and not in a good way, but you could say the same thing about a Floyd Rose too. The Blade Runner really doesn't change the look at all. To me, the Blade Runner is a much better design than the 6 point vintage trem.

The super vee is an awesome design in it lets you throw it into a standard strat without any modifications. You get the real floyd rose type action.
I have an lsr and dont need fine tuners. They assured me a blade runner would do just fine but I dont see how without locking the strings.

Correct I was wondering about the Blade Runner. Specifically if it works as advertised or if it was a gimmick / waste of money. Although I do appreciate NY's response.

My question would be will it stay in tune with my lsr and locking tuners as well as a locking tremolo does?

I think that NY's response at least partially answers the question. Both the Blade Runner and the Super Vee use the same proprietary stainless steel spring (blade) instead of the traditional knife-edge/pivot and at least we can gather that the principle behind these trems appear to be solid. As to how well specifically the Blade Runner executes its mission is still unclear. The idea is that by having the bridge to its "0" position, the guitar will return to its correct pitch or very close to it at least. Maybe with the blade technology, Super Vee has achieved that but there is a product that's been out there for a few years that basically does the same thing. The Tremsetter. Fender even used to install it as OEM equipment on the Strat Plus (which was also supplemented by the LSR roller nut and locking tuners). The fact that it is no longer a standard feature on any Fender (not counting any signature or Custom Shop models) makes me wonder if you can get similar results with a properly set up 2-point or vintage style trem. I get good results with my stock 2-point vibrato and locking tuners.

Setting my deluxe locking tremolo flat on the body with an lsr and locking tuners i can just whammy all i want and always return in tune. Now fender has decided we dont need that option so someone needs to step up and replace the deluxe locking tremolo.

Have you seen either of them, up close, in person, on a guitar, and tried them. Just wondering...
