Yes, why not try it. The newer Deluxe models have a "passing lane" switch that bypasses all tone and volume controls and puts the bridge hum-bucker pup directly on the output. I thought that the sound in that position was awesome.

Something to consider is to temporarily run small wires for the capacitors to the outside of the pick guard (two sets of wires if using a different cap for each tone pot), then the guitar can be put back together, and allow swapping caps without having to remove the strings and pick guard with every cap change. If you leave the cap out (open circuit for tone control), this would give you a good idea of how the sound will be without a cap, as this also removes the tone pot from the circuit. Once you find what works for you, remove the wires and install the favored cap(s) in their proper places before final assembly.

Keep in mind that each tone pot works for only one pickup.

Instead of leaving the cap out, install a no-load tone pot for the best of both worlds. :!:

Sorry for not replying sooner. Thanks for all the comments. I went with Sprague 715P .033uf Orange Drops. They are PERFECT!! Just the tone I want. I play Blues and they are just what I wanted. Kind of a pain in the Arse to install but I got it done. Totally changed this guitar. The stock caps were OK, but this is the way to go. THX again! :D

Cool!

Good to know about great improvement for little cost. Something that just about anyone can do. I take it that the orange drop was a tight fit?

Definitely bookmark this one for reference. 8)
