I use the Kinman K9 switch on one of my Strats. It allows you to run all three pups and a whole lot more.

That thing is nuts. A definite "look-in-too"! Sounds pretty amazing.

I found this interesting because this weekend I was read an August 1987 issue of Guitar Player. They had a two page spread written by Dan Armstrong on how to wire a Super Strat. Some of you most likely have heard of him before, as he has been around in the guitar scene for years building custom stuff. It looked pretty cool and I thought I might try it on one of my odd builds. But check out what he is doing here. Pretty simple really but uses 3 mini-switches instead of the 5-Way switch:

the way everyone describes the muddy tone, maybe inviting trouble?
Gotta think about this a little more

Yeah, I'm not a fan of all 3 at once, there's more useable sounds on a standard Strat for my taste, but the blend of Neck with Bridge is very useable with some quite nice Telecaster inspired sounds in there.

In my opinion all 3 pick ups on doesn't bring a drastically new sound, but getting bridge and neck pick ups at the same time brings a good step towards Tele or Jazzmaster sound (à la Gilmour)

I agree. The combination of bridge and neck pickup's together is a marvellous tone, sadly missing from a traditionally wired Strat.

As and when the strings need replacing, I'm modifying all my Strats and Strat like objects with this option.

Not only the Black Strat.

Both the MIM Deluxe Super and Deluxe Players Strats also boast that feature.
