I have a 2007 MIM Strat and saw in a earlier post that on MIMs/Standards the poles should follow the radius of the neck. I have checked my guitar and the poles from low E to to G seem to follow this rule with the D and G poles being the highest and about the same. The pole on the B string is by far the lowest and below the top of the pickup cover. The pole for the high E string is just above the cover but still lower than the pole for the low E String. Did the previous owner change the pups out or is this normal?
thanks

You are describing the same setup as mine and I know for a fact I haven't altered the heights of any of the pole pieces on mine. Same setup on my American Vintage '62. Don't be concerned with it.

+1

This disparity among the pole pieces is known as "vintage stagger". It's the original configuration as developed for the Strat by Leo Fender.

Depends on the year and which MIM Strat you have. The stock ceramic pickups that came on my 2009 MIM Standard Strat followed the fretboard curve. They were NOT vintage stagger like Arjay refers to.

Right bluesky636,

I should have been more clear, my MIM Strat is a 2007 also. It does have the vintage stagger. Thanks Arjay, I could not remember the term.

The OP's description conforms precisely to the vintage-stagger configuration.

Understood. Which MIM Strat do you have? Current Standards do not have vintage stagger.

I have a 2007 three color sunburst standard.

Then either that's what it came with or the previous owner swapped out the pickups.

I'm getting confused with Huse. I'm the original owner of my 2007 MIM Strat. Based on mine, I'd say his pups are original as well.

What's so confusing? Do you have a MIM Standard Strat or some other model of MIM Strat. I said that the poles on my 2009 STANDARD Strat follow the radius of the fretboard. I know that there are other MIM models that do not follow the fretboard radius. I do not know what the 2007 MIM Standard used. If you have a 2007 MIM Standard and you are the original owner, then your pickups are original and Fender changed the design somewhere between 2007 (yours) and 2009 (mine). Simple?

It appeared the replies were getting mixed up from the quoting; simple as that.
