Guys & Gals:

I own a 2005 Highway One HSS Strat with the vintage-style tremolo, which I do not use. I have never had an issue with strings breaking prematurely with this setup. In fact, I have never broken a string in the two years that I've owned the guitar!

Are there known issues with the stock saddles on a vintage-style Highway One HSS Strat?

Are these quality saddles or should I replace them with something better?

Thanks for any help.

Well, if you're not having any problems with them, then I say go with the old saying "If it ain't broke, don't fix it"

If you just really want to change the saddles, then nothing anyone here says is going to change your mind. If you already have your mind made up to change them, then I'm sure plenty of people here will give you great suggestions.

I'm inclined to agree with you, and I'm in no hurry to change them unless they need changing...

Why would you want to replace it if it's working well for you? Those vintage style bridges are classics for a reason. Leo knew what he was doing! :)

Well, I don't WANT to replace them, but it was suggested that, by so doing, I could avoid potential intonation issues. If you look where the string rests on the saddle, there's enough room between the adjustment screws for the string to "wiggle". This has happened, on occasion, on the higher, unwound strings, and it does seem to affect intonation.

FenderGuy - Sounds like the guy who "suggested" to replace may want you Vinstage style and your money.....If you do go forward, keep the original set up. Find what he's going to charge you for replacement/installation and THEN say that you expect the original piece back. Afterall, he doesn't want it, supposdly it's no good..To be honest I've never played one of these but my '68 rig, with 5-springs has never given me any problems.......J

Maybe that's what I need - more springs. I have the stock setup, which I think is 3 springs?

True, but if things will have problems in the future, why not take care of it before they happen??? :D
