I gotta say this guitar is awesome, I love everything about it. Only one small problem and was looking for some ideas. The G string tuning machine seems to be defective or loose. When I bend the G string it gets out of tune very easily, can almost hear it getting flat when you do a bend.

The tuning machine knob on the G feels very easy to move compared to all the other tuning knobs, should I tighten the little screw and the end of the knob? Or not mess with it and bring it back to the dealer, I would hate to have to leave it there.

thanks for any help

CJL

Did you wind the string around the post enough? Sounds like it may be coming loose, and any tension loosens it up. Make sure the string is wound so that it pushes against the part of the string that goes through the whole in the post. You will see that there is a taper to the post, fat at the bottom and getting narrower at the top. After the string goes through the whole it should be wound DOWN the post, that way the pressure going UP the strings locks in the part that goes through the whole in the post. self pressure, self locking. I have never have a problem with my strats strings loosening or going out of tune. I dont even need locking tuners, I don't see the need.

Good luck

The strat is very new so I did not put the strings on, I guess the factory did. The tuning machine knob feels like it has a lot of play compared to the other 5 tuner knobs. I did not think to "redo" the way the factory put on the strings, I will try that.

Thanks

If the tuner does not feel right take the guitar back to where you bought it and have it checked out.

I would try tighting the machine head screw (lil.screw) BUT !!! be very careful not to over tighten. FINGER TIGHT,,SNUG. Also check the nut on the tuner post,, again just SNUG.

Sounds like you have a tuner issue BUT after you get that handled here's a link that I'm sure will benefit everybody regarding the "G" string....J
