After 20 years away from playing, I purchased a mex strat and a peavey vyper amp and have been practicing for about 10 months now. I'm not near where I was, but it's coming...) My first love is bluesy rock and so the strat. I have lately been adding some early AC/DC to my practice and am looking for any tips on how to get that sound closer. I know, they don't play strats...I am adding a set of Fender hot/ noiseless pickups over Christmas. It is amazing how much you can forget when you don't practice.

Cut back on the high end and boost the mids and bass more and have a good distortion but not super saturated. Most people don't realise the AC/DC sound is not that super saturated sound, it's a more cranked up power amp distortion and a lot cleaner than people think. :)

Hi Indiana Kid,

On top of already good advice, I would add that tuning down as they did might help you get closer to their sound. (half-step down?)

Be sure to reset your intonation for new tuning.

Por favor, disculpe mi español, no se llega a la práctica con mucha frecuencia.

Hey thanks for the tips! Dropped the half (didn't think it was dropped...) and tried less distortion. You were right, I was too saturated. Way too saturated... I'm much closer now. Been working on it for the past 3 hrs.
Thanks again!

Hello light01.

Also, try with the pickup selector in the second position(bridge and Middle). To my ears this is the best setting with a strat.
