Welcome to the forum.
What makes you believe it´s made in Japan?
Is there a stamp at the neck heel?

Cheers,
Robin

It's almost certainly a USA. In this pic you can see the cast saddles and the slots under the bridge intonation screws, which indicates it's the 1-piece cast zinc bridge Fender used from '72 to '82 (dates approximate). Fender Japan never used that bridge.

It also has the shallow contours and poorly matched body pieces that were characteristics of late CBS USA Strats. Fender Japan never copied those "features".

That's a very cool looking guitar.

It's a USA one - they didn't necessarily say "Made in the USA" back then because there weren't any "real" Fenders made outside of the USA until around 1981 or so, just copies.

No worries, that's a legit circa 1979-1981 Fender Stratocaster.

By the way, a 1994-1995 MIJ Fender would likely have the serial number on the neck heel just above where the neck bolts onto the body and it would also say "Made In Japan" in the same spot.
