Hi all. After a of advice from anyone who had dealings with fender warranty just to see where I stand.
On Thursday I picked up my new 62 hot rod strat from my local shop which is a fender dealer. It's was totally brand and still in its box from the warehouse as it was not a model they normally stock and they ordered it in. Had a look over and play in the shop and all seemed well. After a few hours with it over the weekend it developed a bad fret buzz pretty much all over the neck and on all strings except the low E. I initially put this down to needing a set up after i had played it in a bit. But following a closer I found that the 15th fret had become raised.
I rang the shop this morn and dropped the guitar off to them this evening and they immediately said that they would send it back where it will be either dressed or a replacement guitar would be sent. I told them I would prefer a replacement over repair as I ve lost confidence with it a d don't want to be lumbered with a lemon. They said they would wait for a response from fender and let me know.
Does anyone know how fender would deal with this normally, replace or repair?
Thanks all in advance.

Hi dc01,
We normally recommend that people either get it back to the dealer they purchased from or bring it to a service center. Looks like you did the right thing.
We take everything on a case by case basis, but it sounds like your guitar was pretty new. I would say that we will more than likely replace it. As time goes by....let's say a couple of months after you purchased it for example, we might lean more towards getting it to a service center and replaceing or repairing the neck. Again, everything is on a case by case basis.
We just want to make sure that we make every effort to do the "right" thing.
Thanks for hangin in there.
All the best,
rob

Thanks for the reply Rob. I have a good relationship with my local dealer and on first name terms with most off the staff and they do empty my pockets on a regular basis. :D So I do think that they would probably push for a replacement as I asked if it became an issue. Cheers again Rob.
