I dont like the sound of the replaced pick-ups i bought my strat with,
joe barden's on neck and middle, clean all fine
seymour-duncan in bridge is ok,
but too much noise and bass on all of them with distortion
Hum, Whoom and Bzzz
i need a more picky sound, mids.
Any advice around? i have the original PU's too, but dont think they are noiseless either?

I'm a HUGE fan of the DiMarzio AREA series of noiseless pickups.
They're dead quiet and Stratty as all heck!!
I have them in most of my 13 guitars and have NO regrets!
I've gotten compliments of my tone when I've played out....

If you want humbucking Strat pickups, the DiMarzio Area/Virtual Vintage series is by far, your best bet!

Those Bardens should be noiseless unless they've been miswired. So if they're humming and buzzing and excessively bassy something's wrong and you should fix it before judging their tone.

(Noise suggests that they've been wired so they're permanently split to be true single coils, but in split mode they should be thin and bright sounding, not bassy. So I'm not sure exactly what's up with it -- there may be several things wrong with the wiring or components. Miswired tone controls, excessively high value capacitors(s), excessively low value pots, bad solder joints.)

Exactly. The pic is kinda blurry but it sure looks like all three are either buckers or noisless. Something must be amiss with the circuitry.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

tried a grounded wall-plug: problems gone..
does that mean the wiring is good?

Sounds like you need to check all the grounding and make sure all the pots are wired up right. Double check there is nothing shorting out the pots. That noise is not supposed to happen no matter what you use.

 it is always something simple :D but yes your guitar is fine. an ungrounded amp is always noisy no matter what pickups you use. I am happy it was just in your wall

it gets even funnier,
my halogen lamp did add a lot to the noise too :p
now remains a slight little hum only when not playing and not touching the strings, with much drive on.
with full distortion it gets a little more.

but workable i guess, at least i can enjoy the playing quality more now, so dynamic with attack strenght! so nice :)

never had this issue with the Charvel though.., should noiseless PU's be absolutely noiseless, or just less noisee?

Halogen lamps, fluorescent lamps, old style TV screens/computer monitors, compressors on fridges, laptop batteries, static off nylon carpets etc etc.

As for noiseless, nothing is absolute. Not even 'noiseless' pickups or humbuckers. And any overdrive, distortion or booster will add noise, by ramping up the gain of whatever tiny noise is present, or by virtue of how clean those devices' circuits are. Picking up radio waves even is not unknown.

If you think about it, your amp is the worst offendor. It is purposely designed to take a very tiny signal and amplify it to audible levels.

Electric guitar isn't about high fidelity sound reproduction. So don't stress and just enjoy it.

And so i am sitting here in the dark, with my feet on the concrete and warm beer, but enjoying my strat without noises :p

Now you're getting it! Ideally you should also be naked - the rustle of polyester can be so off-putting..
