What about Kinman noiseless pickups for the Strat. I like my Highway 1 (upgraded) as is, but bought intending to upgrade to noiseless if I can find the right ones to match what I've got and bring more. Any experience with Kinman noiseless?

I've asked the same question on three other posts and got no response. Hopefully, someone who's tried them will. www.kinman.com I contacted Kinman directly for their suggestion for the best replacement for '68 2182's and didn't get a response from them either. It seems that their policy is for you to click on the "sound" bites and make your own decision. However, I am still intrigued by the work that Chris Kinman has put into his patents. Let's hope that someone who knows will chime in........J

Please note that this is MY opinion and experiences, others may beg to differ.

I've had a couple of Kinman sets. They do in fact, deliver as advertised. However, I feel that they are overly expensive. So, I went on a quest to see if there was anything else comparable out there which price wise, is in line with what most other "high end" manufacturers charge for their stacked humbuckers. Naturally, this took some time.

I tried pretty much all the popular boutique brands and found only one, the DiMarzio Virtual Vintage "Area" series of pickups. They sound just as good or better than the Kinmans and cost the same as what most other "high end" manufacturers charge for their stacked humbuckers. And if you don't like them, DiMarzio has a 30 day exchange policy. Also of note is the fact that if you e-mail them or even phone them, telling them exactly what you're looking for, they answer you promptly and thoroughly. I urge you to check them out.

Thats good to hear. I'm VERY happy with my Area '58s but I was getting tempted by the info and sound clips on the Kinman site. I didn't want to spend all that money to get something very close to what I already have.

One thing that is interesting about the Kinman pickups is the narrower neck pickup. For a MIM strat like mine that would be nice.

I'm not sure I'd want to deal with them... there website is to difficult! Perhaps I'll try later when I have more patience!

On the other hand, the MP3s they have of their pickups are really nice!
