Granted, some individual guitars can withstand this practice better than others. Having said this, by doing so, one is constantly fluctuating the pulling tension on the neck and the tremolo where it is not good for the overall stabilization of the instrument.

I have gone from standard tuning to drop D on every guitar I have ever owned. Sometimes I go between the two tunings every few songs LOL. I have never seen a problem.....but you may eventually cause your low E tuner to turn easier then the rest ;) Other than that, the neck will take it just fine :)

Get a Steinberger Trans Trem. The fastest way to change tuning and stay in tune.

When drop tuning, the string pressure is lessoned and requires a new setup. Unless its just the low E going to D. Should be ok. But some people tune the whole guitar down a full step.

if ur bridge is locked down the setup wont change besides for the slight change of the bow in the neck... ive used one of my guitars for tuning all over the place, all the way down to c# sometimes, after 7 years of doing this ive noticed no real damage due to changing the tuning

I play in a cover band and we play everything half a step down, Eb tuning, unless the song is already flat. I often drop the low Eb string to Db for such songs as Lump, Everlong, Sober, etc. I've never had a problem, although, I do use 11 gauge strings. I've been playing the same guitar at gigs about 4-6 times a month for about 2 years now, no backup.

Sorry, I have no input for this thread. I have 2 guitars at standard E and 1 at E flat.
