Do modern reissues have a similar feel as vintage guitars from the '50s? I have a '50s Classic Stratocaster and a '52 reissue Telecaster. I know the old guitars used nitro and most new ones use poly, but other than that do they have the same feel? My guitars feel new and shiny and don't feel old to me at all. Would a mint condition Tele or a Strat from the vintage era have that same shiny feel? The only pre-CBS Fender that I've ever played was a well-worn Jaguar and it was so long ago that I played it that I can't remember.

That is why there are Relics....

My CS 56 NOS Strat feels new ( as new as a 2001 can be in comparison to a 56 ).
Even with the relic theme, which doesn't appeal to me, a guitar is still not going to be an old guitar, regardless of the marketing, you cannot replicate time.
However the Relics are amazing for giving that impression but....when all is said and done, you'll just have to wait and play for a few decades.......

BTW....If you do wait and play....You will receive Two for the Price Of One...
Your Guitar(s) and Yourself....

The reissues do feel alot like the vintage Strats....when they were new,the way they play is what you notice, the nitro finish will relic naturally over the years, just like the old ones did.
Several of us here remember what new Fenders felt like in those days,well...for me,I started playing in the '60s,but my uncle and his friends had bands when I was a kid in the '50s....they used Fender gear.

The American Vintage Series is vintage correct. That's probably the closest thing you can get to what the real thing was like when it was new. The Custom Shop Time Machine Series used to be vintage correct, but now they have modern radii and big frets.
