Hey,

I'm in the process of choosing a strat to become my main guitar. I recently tried out some American Standards and preferred the sound of an all maple neck but didn't like the high gloss fingerboard finish.

The local shop didn't have a maple necked deluxe.

Am i right in thinking that the finish is less glossy on the maple necked deluxe?

Cheers

Features the deluxe has that the standard does not:
-Locking Tuners
-Compound Radius
-Contoured Neck Heel
-N3 Noiseless Pickups and S-1 Switch
-Flatter Saddles instead of Bent Steel

And I think they have satin finishes on the maple necks, but I'm not 100% sure.

I really do think that they have the satin finish on the Am Dlx maple fretboard. It's definately not the high gloss fretboards of older style Fender guitars with maple fretboards.

I'm a rosewood guy myself and thought maybe I'd like the fretboards of the Am Dlx Maple, but then I ended up going with rosewood anyway. It definately felt better than the older high gloss style maple fretboard. I just still prefered the rosewood tone.
