I'm starting a Strat build (Alder body, Maple neck, Rosewood fingerboard) For the pickups, from what I have researched so far is that Jazz/Custom Combo is pretty much a versitile combination most kinds of music...

What do you think?

I already have the JB on my HSS Strat, I love it but I was thinking of having a different one, so Jazz/JB combo is out...

I have the JB and Jazz combo on my Heritage. Sounds great to me. Custom Custom isn't quite my taste.

The Jazz will be fine but the Custom will be rather brittle.

As always, this is merely IMO where YMMV.

The C5 would be rather flat and 'clangy' whereas the CC would be too 'soupy'. The best balanced combo with the Jazz neck in my experience would be a Gibson 498T in the bridge.
