I have had mine for about 6 years now and have NO problems with it what so ever. What is causing the shortages? Do you know?

This forum is full of discussion of the guitars people have sold. I don't know how they do it: I still possess every instrument I have ever owned. That includes my beginner’s Squier Strat, which I have had for more years than I want to admit in public.

As soon as my next Strat came along that Squier started getting modded. By now every part has been changed, sometimes many times, and the wood of the body is the only original thing about it – and even that has been subjected to routing, refinishing and every possible kind of insult.

This is what Squiers exist for. It is how we learn to maintain and upgrade our guitars.

Sounds like your electrics are going to be the first part of yours to get ripped out and replaced. Enjoy! It is a road that goes ever on…

I still have an acoustic guitar that I bought when I was 16. And I'm older than dirt. I don't sell things like that, because there's lot of history behind it.

Sounds like a simple repair. It probably is a bad solder joint.

I think it's best that you take it to a repair shop so they can diagnose the problem properly :)

It's more then likely a loose connection at your jack. Always look at the most used point first. Simply reflowing the solder joints could get you up and running in a few minutes.

Very likely the right diagnosis. But:

(A dispiritingly long time ago) I first got into repairing, and then modding, guitars because I was just too damned ashamed to take a beginner's Squier Strat to a tech and ask him to make it sound good. I reckoned he would have laughed me outta the shop. DIY was therefore a necessity. Little did I know how happy that fella would have been for the work...

Buy Dan Erlewine's Guitar Player's Repair Guide and embark upon that endless journey

Might even be your guitar cable... is it in good shape? Did you get it new? Plug another instrument in with it to test.
