hey guys, so here is the deal... i got a pretty good deal on a squier SE strat in black but i already have a black and white strat (i'm using this guitar as a modding platform to try out pickups and other gear since it's the cheapest i could get to getting a full fender sized body)... i was thinking on going with a red pearl pickguard, an adonized gold or just keep the white pearl and route it for the bridge humbucker... any suggestions to what i could do visually to a strat?

remember i hate black on black...

p.s. anyone know if the SE body has the right sized neck pocket?

The gold anodized would provide a pleasing contrast. And a bonus is, it will provide full shielding for the pickups, controls, and wiring.

Rawk on!

I hate to put a damper on your project but Squiers are notorious for not perfectly retrofitting standardized Fender Strat replacement parts. As a matter of fact, if you go to any number of pickguard sites, when it comes to Squiers, they require tracings of the original in order to make whatever pickguard you require. Definitely proceed with caution on this one.

I should've mentioned that.

Getting any genuine Fender accessories to fit a Squier, Bullet, Affinity, etc without some "persuasion" is always a crap-shoot.

It's worth a shot alright. Just be prepared to make slight modifications to achieve a nice factory-appearing fit.

whatever you do, i would be careful about posting pics here. Some people don't like the idea that people would buy something like that do use as a project.

I personally would just have fun with it. Strip it, repaint it however you want! Its YOUR personality coming through!

stripping it is not that hard. you can use a chemical stripper (from a local auto parts shop.) Or you can use a heat gun (which is what i did). Be careful with the heat gun though so you don't burn the wood. Do it in a well ventilated area as well. Some of the paint will chip off, some you might have to sand down a little.
