I was told by one of the guys at my local shop that Fender was supposed to be updating the Mexican Standards again. Anyone else know about that?

Not sure, though from what I just read the American Deluxes are to get the new super 55 pickups. He coulda misunderstood.

If MIM Standards will get an overhaul, they'll get a 22-fret neck like the blacktop series.

As for the USA Deluxes, apart for the pickups, my personal wish is the return of the locking bridge option for the HSS models and a couple of new finishes & pickguard colours.

I've wondered about weather or not Fender would start producing more Mexican Strats w/22 frets. My feeling, though, is that this would probably eat into sales of American Standard and American Special Strats. IMO, AlNiCo pickups (maybe even the same ones used in the Squier Standards or Duncan Designed) should be offered. The current ceramic bar magnet/steel pole pickups are usually among the first things to go when people buy these guitars. What I would love to see, though, is a FR Standard with a maple neck.

There's a new color added to the MIM line-up... white chrome I guess it's called (or something like that). I haven't heard any word on other changes though.

Did the Super 55's are compatible with the TBX/MDX circuitry? Eric hasn't tried these new noiseless pickups yet.

Hope Fender will also make a hotter Super 66 Split-Coil pickup with ceramic magnets for Jeff Beck!

The MIM standards do have the highgloss fretboard now . Is that what you could be referring to.
