Morning, Fender folks.

Don't suppose anyone knows if anywhere still has stock of the original Wilkinson roller nuts as fitted to the Strat Plus?

Mostly asking as I've absolutely fallen in love with Thomastik Blues Sliders strings, which are absolutely superb on my other Strats, but my main working plank is my '92 Plus - the Thomastik 10 set has a 48 low E which, of course, won't fit through the nut. The only other low E they make in that range is a 43, which is just far too light.

So basically, I need the correct Wilkinson for thicker strings, and can't find one anywhere!

Before anyone mentions it - Yes, I know you can retrofit the LSR nut, but there's just something about them I don't like, had bad experiences with them on a couple of guitars in the past.

Anyone know any option other than going and raiding Jeff Beck's shed?

All the wrong type, I'm afraid - those listed as 'Wilkinson' on Ebay are 99.9% of the time horrible imported things which are nothing like the real thing, and certainly don't work like one - believe me, I tried one.

To illustrate, this is the type I have -

I bought one here before

They had them in chrome and brushed steel. Looks like they might be out of them though, but you might want to give them a call to be sure.

Blimey. Lots of money! And that's still only for the standard (albeit earlier split) version, not the one which can take larger strings!

Think I might stick to another brand of good old 10-46 wires for the Plus, haha. Probably easier than tracking down the untrackable, and certainly preferable to going with the LSR nut!

I can poke myself in the eye for free and possibly get better tonal results.

Nah, the LSR isn't that bad, but I'd rather use a conventional well-lubed nut if I had to ditch the Wilkinson. I've had a couple of Strats with the LSR on, each one had niggles, whereas every Wilkinson equipped Strat I've had has been pretty much flawless, so I would rather stick with what works best for me. :D

Not to mention a big slab of black plastic (with the LSR conversion kit) looks a bit odd on the end of a maple board.

If it's the one which takes thicker strings, and you can give me a price in either GBP or imperial potatoes, you might just have me interested!

If this is still on your want list, let me know. I have a few, both standard and for larger gauges, NOS.
