American Standard from me. Beautiful sound and colour, and I like de RW fretboard.

Don't listen to all the junk about what guitar is better than the other.. Just go play one and pick whatever one feels most comfortable for you.

Hey Blues You had the American Special in the 5th position (Neck only pickup) on the American Special and the American Standard seemed to be in the 4th position. That definitly colored the tone of your comparison. The biggest difference to me between these two is the pickups Fender uses. I believe they put the Texas Specials in the American Specials versus the Alnico 5s in the American Standard. The Special seemed muddy and notes were not as defined. The Standard is much more crisp and balanced to the ear. Enjoyed the play by the way. You definitley channel that Hendrix vibe.
