Hi from GREECE ,
i am an owner of a fender american deluxe with HSS pickups configuration. It's a 2005 model with the old SCN pickups which i had them changed from the first time i got it.Now is equipped with a duncan custom TB-5 in the bridge and 2 ssl-1 in the middle and neck position. The problem is that i don't get that ''bell like tone'' from my guitar in the 2,4,1 positions. There is no twang at all.Even though we checked the electronics, the set up and all the basic things the guitar still doesn't sound properly.
I also own a classic player 50's which i know is a different guitar, but the gap between the two of them is huge( twang-bell like tone).I don't think the problem is with the pickups or anything else cause when i play with the guitar without an amplifier (just like an acoustic guitar) i still miss the twang that the 50's gives me.So i would like to ask if i should change the neck or the bridge with a similar (in specs) with the 50's to solve the problem.Any suggestions? And if so ,which neck fits perfect from a more traditional strat? Thanks in ADVANCE.

just an idea but the guitar was out of tune.
ps. the amp that i use is a fender hot rod deluxe.

if you change the pickups and the sound has changed then I assume the pickups are the cause of the problem..
My HSS Deluxe sounds the same as when I bought it but if I changed something on it , to alter the sound, well then I suppose the whole sound is going to change..
Everyones ear is different so you buy the Strat and then you mod it to how YOU want it to sound. Eric Clapton modded his Strat, Gilmore modded his Strat, even Slash modded his Les Paul, half the guys on here have modded their Strats and they will all say this is how I like my Strat to sound.
Not one of them will be at Fender Standard so therefore it will not be a classic Fender sound because Fender did not make it like that.
Don't know if I am talking cack here but can you see what I mean?
I bought my HSS because I liked the humbucker, people I know don't think it should be there, but hey... It's my guitar and I like the sound out of it...

As i said above i have changed the stock pickups with those that i liked.I know that the sound changed and that was my purpose but i didn't manage to get that vintage bell like tone with the new ssl-1 pickups in the middle and neck.I have also use vintage- fender pickups but got the same results.Something else is going wrong and i can't figure out. :?
