Howdy X Man!

Stunning work on he Strats mate! And I hope you get that neck sorted out.

I have many fond memories of hanging out in various lounges across Amsterdam. A couple of my favourites are just off the busy Kalverstraat, up form Dam Square. Great city!

Do pop in if your ever passing this way mate!

Cheers!

Andy

From my personal meeting with Ceri about 18 mos ago, Kong last winter, and what Serge had to say about hanging out with the guys in the UK last summer, not to mention my annual lunch with him and Steve, its an opportunity not to be missed. This Forum sports an awesome company.

Xhefri, I absolutely love that black on black with the red underply pickguard. Very classy. It looks like a strat with a tuxedo on. Hey... good name maybe. "The Tuxedo"

LOL, but a Tuxedo should be black and white.... I have actually build about 5 or 6 of these Black Strat Plus' using the Black/Red/Black pickguards. I do love black but it is a very fussy color when it comes to playing, and then keeping it clean! Here are a few samples:

did you make those pickguards yourself? with the switch (im assuming its to coil tap the bridge)... if not where could i get ahold of one?

looking to drop lace sensors into my select mahogony stratocaster soon...

Ok, I am back from India. Lots of naan, currie, rice, chiles, and more. My head is still bobbling and I am talking very very fast. Now when I arrived home I took the Ultra neck, mentioned previously in the thread that had the bad bad bow in in, and took it out of my furnace room and and removed the clamps. Guess what? Bow gone!!!! I will be able to use this next after all, but on a different project now. I will post picture tomorrow and showbyou the results!

Also get back on finishing up BUILD #2 Mystic Black Strat. Over on the Firestorm Thread I will get that headed toward completetion as well. Thanks for your patience!

As some of you remember, while building the Ultra Flamed Build #1 I ran into a badly warpped neck. After taking some of your advice I tried to repair the neck. Here is what it looked like, remember? See the big gap in the middle (bowed concave in the face between the 18th to the 3rd fret)?

Image

I put the neck on a steel pipe with wood shims at the 1st and the 21st frets and then clamped this sucker down and left it in my furnace room for nearly a month.

here is the neck as of today. It lays flat except it has a slight back bend now which the truss rod and strings on the guitar will pull in to shape. I feel confident about it. The proof will be when it is actually placed on a body. here it is (New and before)

Now I need to strap it to a body. I hope I can work on these builds some more on Sunday! 8)

Glad to see that the neck was salvageable.

Cool to see that worked out for you! I'm definitely going to do the same to my warped '89 neck and see if it can be saved.
