That is one beautiful body. Onward with the build, awaiting next update. This is going to be good.

How do you know/make sure that all the parts you have will all fit together without modification? Where do you gather all the parts from? do you take things from other guitars or is everything brand new?

So many questions on these creative ventures! 8)

I stick with things that "usually" fit. My favorite Strats are part of the "Plus Series" so I have a good idea what will fit and what will not. USA Strat necks are pretty interchangeable so getting a true Fender spec body, such as made by Warmoth, I know the neck should fit well. There bodies and necks are "licensed by Fender." Most of the part are USA Plus parts, except the custom wiring.

Interesting sidelight. I was in contact with Lynn Ellsworth, who was the founder of Boogie Body Guitars. Do any of you remember that company? In the 1980s they made customs guitars for a lot of well know performers such as Eddie Van Halen, Joe Satriani and others. He and Warmoth were making guitar bodies together for some time, from what I understand, like in the late 1970s. They both lived in the Seattle area. Seymour Duncan also teamed up with them on some of their early project. Seems like these guys all know each other and have a history. Warmoth makes great bodies and necks, that is for sure.

I know you've just gone on travel for work, but I've just got back from the bush for work so I've just caught on....

CURLS GET THE GIRLS mate, dear lord what a glorious looking cap on that thing. It looks like theirs a bit more red in this finish than the more tabacco burst of the flame.

Both are great! looking forward to the assembly as always mr x

X...Holy Schmokes that is one beautiful body, front and back! Might I suggest some Fralins, they have a nice oomph to em. Also how about a white pickguard to make that top really stand out...or even a clear guard with matching sunburst to hide the electronics?

Looking forward to the rest of this build!

FWIW

The famous 'swimming pool' rout of about 15 years ago and more. I wanted to rout the trem cavity for a battery when I swapped out the stock electronics on my '97 American Standard for an EMG DG-20, but couldn't because of that rout. Takes more wood out of the body too. That's a gorgeous finish but I wouldn't give you two cents for the body routed that way.

We know enough about Fender and its serial number system not to be surprised. I bet they ran out of the stock production transfers and borrowed from the Clapton bin.

Busy weekend planned so my last post for a while. I knew I would get some flack over the route on the body. I find it interesting that all the Strat Plus, Ultra, some Custom Shops and the early Jeff Beck guitars had this route and Fender did not shut it doors, not loose millions of dollars in sales, because people plugged them in and thought, "What happened to this guitar? It does not sound right!!!" 95% of the people who bought them, me included, did not even know there was wood missing under the hood! So Doc, not even $5 for this body??? :-)

I won't argue the fact that the Plus Series did rather well yet, there must have been a reason why they returned to the classic routing patterns. The Clapton, which enjoyed some of the spinoff off the Strat Plus development, never changed it stripes. Would I give you $5 for the body?? Perhaps. It's a beautiful body for certain. However....would a decapitated Marilyn Monroe have sparked the same interest??
