i am toying with the idea of parting company with my e series strat mij
candy apple red with system 1 trem .
what is a realistic price for this guitar

Hi, your best bet is to upload some pics to photobucket or a similar site and link them.

I love MIJ stuff, and CAR holds a special place in my heart. Wanted a CAR MIJ at the right price for ages.

How old is the guitar?

its a mij comtempary model 1984/87 with fender system 1 trem and locking nut

That's a lovely guitar mate.

I'm curious as to what value people will put on it, I could hypothesize but it would only be based on ebay browsing.

I see no one had answered the question posed in the thread title. There is some risk in giving a personal a "realistic" value as they might deem or emotional hold a higher than realistic value on a guitar. i have bought and sole quite a number of both MIJ and CIJ guitars. I have just small sample on my website: http://xhefriguitars.com/page9.html and http://xhefriguitars.com/page7.html and few of the other pages. The good news is, the JV and E serial number Strats are more collectable. But I have found the Contemporary series (also the HM and some other models) do not sell as as well as the Vintage Reissues. There is also the matter of where and how you sell a guitar too that can affect the final outcome. I would value this guitar at around $575 to $675. If really minty and advertised well with the history of the JV and E Series MIJ guitars, with good pictures, maybe as high as $725....with a hard shell case that is in good condition.
