Today I was out working and happened to pass a different Music shop today, so popped in ,as you tend to do.
Well two guitars caught my eye. A Telecaster B Bender and a Custom shop Strat.
After having a little tinkle with them unplugged to get the feel and hear the resonance, I thought the CS Strat felt a little bit too light compared to my Deluxe and didn't sound as bright too.
I loved the feel of the Tele but the neck of the Strat felt a bit too chunky not what I like but hey, so I took the serial no. and have just checked it out.
Hmmmmm I don't think CS Strats are make in Korea ?? And at $2600 too. ouch.
CN700580 is the serial no. I won't post the B Benders no. of course.
That ,to me, makes it a Squire with some dodgy stickers on it!

Check again.

If that serial number is stamped into the neck plate, it could be a CS guitar, the sn is consistent with CS. The CS sn aren't included on the sn site, but can be confused with the import sn. Note that the Squiers and other imports don't have the sn on the neck plate but are a decal or printed on the headstock, or on the neck at the body end.

What shimmlou says - I have no idea why Fender used "CN" serial numbers for both MIK and USA Custom Shop guitars but they did in the 1990s.

Fender tends to use those numbers that start with a "C" (they are now up to something like "CZ7XXXXX" numbers these days) on guitars that aren't "Time Machine" reissues - you'll find them on things like CS Claptons, CS Becks, or any "modern-style" CS guitar like the Custom Deluxes, etc.

It had the Custom shop logo on the back of the headstock and that is also where the SN number was too.
It looked nice but not the set up I would have liked. THere did not seem to be anything special to on it, In fact, the Warmoth Strat next to it, had a better feel and look to it.
