I'll pass (with all due respect).

Not bad at all. Would look better on a guitar though.

Also I think you were a little too heavy handed with the scratched on the bottom of the plate. Between the neck and mid pickup holes.
May want to dumb that down a bit mate.

Looks really good, what did you use to yellow around the holes?

This instrument will -- allegedly -- be played by guitarists, not draftsmen. What's with all the graphite stains all over the pickguard?

And unless said guitarists are wearing steel banjo picks, such spurious abrasions are unlikely to occur with such severity on a guitar.

Being a master scale modeler, I'm well aware of weathering and aging techniques as they relate to miniatures. One of the fundamental conventions for successfully accomplishing these techniques holds that "less is more".

The effects on this pickguard are both nebulous and overdone IMO.

You asked......HTH

I think it looks really good, but the the scratches below the pickups are too prominent maybe

Nvm, I'm gonna buy a mint green guard and let it age over the years.

You'd ask that question on these boards?

You already know the answer to that one!

I think the yellowing looked really good (authentic). Unfortunately, a lot of that isn't seen once the pots get installed.

I agree the scratching and the black in the scratches seems a bit too much, but that's easily fixed. Just wipe it down a bit and it'll look good.

Did you try to soak the whole p-guard in coffee/tea?

Here's an interesting picture I took.

But THAT is how my other pickguard looked like! It was scratches all over the place like crazy and it was "blackish" deeper scratches!

My 1975 Strat got a nasty blackish scuff on it's pickguard a few years ago (I refuse to say how it got on it). The nasty blemish cleaned right up with a little "scratch and swirl remover/polishing compound."

You mean to say that you didn't leave it in situ as "legitimately-earned mojo"?

looks really good on the guitar,
now remove the knobs, and switch, and pickup covers, and soak em in dark coffee to finish
it off.
if you like it really, thats all that matters.

ps. dont get upset when people give their opinions, if you ask, you will get their uncensored opinion.
at work i always say "tell the truth once".

Yes, coffee works but (sorry for being a critic) I hate worn pickguards, especially when its artificial.
