To all:

I was recently given a MIJ Strat. I believe it to be a 1987-88. It has a single ply pickguard and three single coil pickups.

It's a great playing / sounding guitar. Can anyone shed some light on it for me? I really don't know much about it.

Thanks in advance!!!

Nice guitar. Here is a previous thread that deals with several MIJ guitars. You might enjoy it.

I believe that's what's known as a "Contemporary Strat", which combined several vintage-style details (fretboard radius, 12-fret dot spacing, original-spec bridge) with some newer features (dual string-trees, cast-alloy tuners, modern 5-way switching). By and large, they're excellent instruments though they would benefit from better pots, switch, output jack, and wiring. Some had US-made pickups, others not. You'd need to take a peek under the hood to determine what's in there.

Hey now -

Thanks for the quick replies!

How would I know (by looking) if it had USA made pickups? What would be the indication?

Thanks again ~
