John Frusciante is the man and fender should ask him to if he'd like to make one.

he is a very talented guitarist and the burst strat he has is quite nice.... i'm not too sure if there are any major mods or anything to it, but i'd consider one if they made it

correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't they already offer him one?
if it's true, then it's needless to say that he said "no."

his main guitar now is his stock sunburst 1962 Strat, (correct if I'm wrong again) with no known mods, just the out of phase middle pickup.
I'd reckon that it wouldn't be terribly hard or expensive to get into the Froo ballpark all by yourself.

I believe you're right about his main guitar. But the thing with signature Strats isn't always just about mods the artist might have made, it's just as much about the aesthetics; look at the Clapton "Blackie" Strats where they recreated all the wear and tear and the cigarette burns on the headstock, etc. The thing is Frusciante's guitar is close enough to stock that it wouldn't really be worth it to release as a signature series. In terms of a "tribute" or "replica" guitar like Clapton's Blackie Strat or Jimmy Page's Double-Neck from Gibson, I don't think Frusciante's guitar is enough of an icon in itself to be worth the gamble for Fender. I don't think his fans generally have the same kind of deep-pockets as some of the guys who've been listening to Clapton and Page for the better part of 40 years you know what I mean?

What I would personally like to see is a David Gilmour Strat. He puts active single-coil size pups in his Strats (far as I know) and he uses a sawed-off whammy bar too for tighter control over the vibrato; AND he's a Strat-playing ICON too. People would line up to buy it; including ME.

well i just want to correct the post over me
Gilmour did only put active emg's in one strat and that is the red one wich he rarely uses anymore becouse he has started to use his old heavily modified black strat + Fender is already making a Gilmour strat....

I've heard rumors about that; I can't wait to play one. I'm just saying in comparison to Frusciante, Gilmour actually mods his Strats to the point that owning a signature Gilmour Strat would be different enough from stock to be worthwhile.

by the way the strat thei are making is the black one with the two original 69' pickups and a dimarzio i think it has in the bridge position
