I bought a guitar not knowing what it was. It turns out it was some sort of beginners guitar a Lead III with a Kubicki neck. The problem is the jack for the cord is noisy or I have a defective guitar cord.

It is a cheap cord that I thought was OK but now that I am plugged into a high powered amp I think the cord could have problems too. Rather than mess with the jack or cord I want to buy a high end cord that is sure to be good so I can properly diagnose the problem.

Please give me some high quality guitar cord suggestions, and a good brand of pot and jack cleaner.

To clean jack and pots I use this http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2102649 , dont forget to lubricate pots with this http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3511774. I myself like coiled cables with one straight and one right angle.

I bought Monster Cables, their a little pricey but they come with a lifetime warranty against any defects. They seem to be much better than any other cable I`ve had before.

I like cables that are not molded, I can resolder the connections when it gets scratchy.

Best of luck with them.

The one we had (metallic copper coloured) was so heavy duty, it used to wind itself into loops around the guitarist's leg..

Planet Waves are plenty good enough in my opinion.

I've never encountered a cable that was not disposable, after some time they have all started acting up and gone in the trash. Maybe I'm too cheap but as long as mines are coiled with one side right angle it's good enough.

I got one of these and have never looked back.
http://www.premierguitar.com/Magazine/I ... Cable.aspx

http://www.amazon.com/ZZYZX-SnapJack-Ma ... 818&sr=1-1

mine doesn't have the decorations on it though.

I just buy extra ends and leave them in my guitars and amp. if the cord ever gets yanked on it snaps loose and goes quiet. there is no popping or noise when taking it lose so you never have to touch a pedal or your amp to swap guitars. feels really well made also

Stay away from Monster, $ doesnt reflect quality in sound or performance. I find the middle of the road cables tend to do better. George L's are good. Fulltone sent me 15ft of cable and jacks, i do custom boards and the like, though i dontuse fulltone, i dont know why the sent them too me, but its the best sounding cable ive used. I used most of it for board i build for someone. I was getting MUCH higher output readings, and lower capacitance reading as well compared to the George L's and planet waves lenghts i usually used to wire up boards.
I have no idea what Fulltone charges for their cable. Im not a fan of their pedals at all, so im out of that loop.

I've always liked Spectraflex cables for a good sounding, tough cable.

In fact, I had one start making some crackling noises after about 8 years of constant gigging, plugging/unplugging, dragging along the floor and once I dug the purchase receipt out of my Tax files, they replaced it with a new one, no questions asked. That won me. 8)

They definitely get my vote - I've been using the same braided Spectraflex cable for nearly 16 years.

It has done hundreds upon hundreds of gigs, had things dropped on it, used to lash together the back doors on the band van, been run over twice, travelled around the world, yet absolutely point blank refuses to die.

Yet I know the day it does, they'll replace it with no questions asked. Can't grumble at that.

I've had all sorts of expensive fancy cables over the years, but none has lasted (or indeed sounded) anywhere remotely close to the Spectraflex.

I have used Monster Cables for going on 25 years...they sound great and yes the same three cables. I have four Monster cables, but I had one replaced about 7 or 8 years ago...it stopped working so I sent it to Monster and they sent me a new one...pretty hard to beat that...they mean lifetime!

I have also heard the same type of warranty and customer service from Planet Waves from an earlier post...just couldn't find it in the search...

FWIW

I've tried various different cables over the years and the best sounding to me was the Monster Studio Pro. I play rock music and that cable really added some higher-mids and just sizzled.
HOWEVER - it was so heavily built that the considerable strain put on the jacks eventually caused it to break.

The last 'pro' lead I bought was by Elixir. To me, it just made things sound thinner and a little brittle.

Now I just use Planet Waves leads because they're pretty, pretty, pretty good.

I have had really good luck with Fender Tone Master as well as Fender Premium Platinum cables. I have been using them for more than a year now and I have had no issues with them at all.

EDIT: Unfortunately I just checked and Fender seems to be revamping their line of cables and it looks like these may be going away.

Never mind :)
