First time poster, long time listener. I own a 1991 Strat that I *think* is the Pewter Gray (or gun metal but I think it was called Pewter). I've played guitar for about 25 years and have always played Strats so I'm familiar with the product from the late '80s/early '90s but, unfortunately, wasn't able to be *exposed* to many lefty's of that time except for the MIJ's.

I bought this guitar a year ago because I'd never seen a lefty this color. I was always looking for 7up Green lefty or Torino red from those days but I just never saw any lefties then or now. Anybody know the answer, know who to ask, consultant, etc...that might be able to give me an idea of how common this guitar is? I honestly can't remember even seeing lefties in 89-92 here in Atlanta anyway. Obviously the internet has changed the game but I haven't really been able to find anything like this, specifically GRAY, very often.

Numbers? Who should I ask?

Thanks and I look forward to chatting with you guys and gals.

Have you popped the pickguard off to see if that is the original colour?

I have an '88 Pewter Strat Plus, rosewood board, and love the colour. I do not know that you will get an accurate idea of how many lefties were made back then, much less how many of a certain colour. Fender records were a bit sketchy then. Send a PM to board member CAFeathers - he is a lefty with a number of Strats who may have a better guess at numbers than I would. (I'm left-handed but have always played right. Tried a lefty guitar recently and it felt too weird to me. Couldn't do a thing with it  )

Thanks for the reply. I did check under the pick guard and it is definitely the original color. Back in the early '90's I used to play a right handed Strat Plus, the Midnight Blue-ish color with a rosewood neck. THAT was a great guitar. It's unfortunate that I had to sell it a couple of years ago. It's come back a couple of times already but this time, I'm afraid it made it's way to Russia. Great, great guitar.
