Anyone ever replace SCN pickups with any of the Fender Custom Shop pups? I have a 2005 Am Delx Strat with SCN pups. I'm not totally unsatisfied with the tone of the guitar but it's just doesn't have the classic strat tone. Feel like I have to always have the treble turned way up on the amp to get close. I bought a second pickguard, a set of 54 cs pups and the fender no load pots so I can keep the original setup fully intact in case I want to easily switch it back to stock. Just wondering if anyone has any input on the setup I'm going to install or any advice before i wire up the new pickguard and install it.

Welcome.

Don't panic when you find out that those 54s hum. Also, I would think that they would be a bit trebly using no-load pots.

As always, this is merely IMO where YMMV.

+1

If needed, you can give the bridge pickup a skosh more "beef" by adding a base plate to it and/or wiring it to the bottom tone control.

If im correct, the no-load pots don't enter the bypass until the pot is turned up all the way? should act as a normal tone pot until it gets to the detent at 10, then puts out stronger or brighter signal? I also bought an S1 pot for the volume pot more or less to use it instead of a push-pull pot to be able to get the neck and bridge pups to play at the same time. Well we'll see how it goes, i'll let u guys know how it turns out.
